Monday In Hell With Devil illustration
This illustration, featuring a Monday morning in Hell, with events overseen by the Devil, was completed in very early April, ironically during the Easter Holidays! In the fiery scene are some humans who have found themselves in the wrong place, and are now bound in chains and awaiting their fate. They are being manoeuvred into position by dark, humanoid like creatures who enjoy their roles. Small flying daemons hang around for the fun and can be seen sitting atop the tall stone pillars surrounding the site. In the centre of the action is the dark lord, seemingly created out of snakes which are used to guide the actions of the humanoid helpers.
The digital illustration is painted using 'Auto Sketchbook Pro' software. Using an android tablet, the initial illustration is drawn up and loosely painted (on layers). When the artwork has reached a satisfactory stage, it is exported to a windows computer running the same software. The image is greatly enlarged from the 'sketch' size, and the painting refined in details and colour. The final stage is to then export the image into Photoshop, with the painting still on different layers, and do final effects and colour grading on the painting.
